Anti-Bullying & Character Education Assemblies
Maybe it's name-calling at recess, a group chat that got out of hand, or a new class that just hasn't gelled. Whatever started it, you want every student to hear the same message at the same time, and remember it next week. That's what a good anti-bullying or character education assembly does. Below are the SEL, kindness and character programs schools book with Academic Entertainment, organized by what you're trying to fix.

What Makes an Anti-Bullying Assembly Actually Work
Students have heard "be kind" plenty of times. The assemblies that change behavior do a few things differently:
- Students take part. Volunteers on stage, songs to sing back and questions to answer keep the message from feeling like a lecture.
- They give students words to use. A simple phrase or set of steps, like Les Trouble PI's four steps or Corey's 4 R's, is something teachers can repeat all year.
- The presenter is relatable. A true story from someone who was bullied, or who overcame something hard, lands with older students in a way a skit can't.
- Staff are part of it. Mr. Peace, Nick Scott and Richard Hight's Art of Inspiration also offer staff and professional development sessions, so teachers hear the same message students do.

When to Schedule a Character Education Assembly
- October: National Bullying Prevention Month and Red Ribbon Week are the busiest weeks of the year, so book early.
- The start of the year: set expectations before problems start.
- Late January: many schools join the Great Kindness Challenge.
- Spring: a reset before testing season and the end of the year.
