About Academic Entertainment: A Journey of Grit and Passion
In the mid-1990s, Gina Jamison—a single working mom of three daughters—founded Academic Entertainment with a vision to bring high-quality, inspiring programs to schools everywhere. Armed with just one artist, a phone book of California schools, and a makeshift plywood desk in her bedroom, Gina’s two-week mission of old-fashioned cold calling laid the foundation for what we are today.
By 1997, the company was officially incorporated. Now, in 2026, we are proud to represent over 40 premier educational and motivational school shows, summer camp programs, and arts-in-education experiences across the United States. While the world of education has changed since those early days, our commitment to providing unforgettable learning experiences remains the same.
A New Chapter: A True Family Business
Academic Entertainment has always been a family-owned and predominantly female-operated business. In 2025, we celebrated a major milestone as our founder, Gina Jamison, officially retired. Her legacy of dedication and passion continues to inspire everything we do.
Following Gina’s retirement, the leadership of Academic Entertainment passed to her daughter, Whitney Mueller, who became the owner in 2025. Having spent over a decade with the company, Whitney represents the future of Academic Entertainment, bringing a fresh vision while honoring the values that her mother established over 30 years ago.
