Science & Technology School Assemblies

Science sticks when students see it happen. A can of soda that seems to recycle itself, a real hot air balloon on the school grounds, or a pile of grocery-store items that turn into a chemistry lesson: these are the moments kids talk about at dinner. Our science and technology school assemblies cover hands-on science, engineering, space, ecology and music technology, for every grade from Pre-K through high school.

Each one is booked through Academic Entertainment, with a single point of contact from first question to show day. Several are available virtually, too.

Hands-on science and the scientific method

The Wacky Science Show brings theatre, comedy and real science together, with more than twelve students taking part as Dr. Science walks everyone through the scientific method. It is available in person or virtually for Pre-K–8.

Supermarket Science turns everyday grocery items like chocolate syrup, diapers and spaghetti into lessons on chemical reactions, air pressure, inertia and energy. Nearly a dozen students join the action on stage in this 45-minute show for Pre-K–8.

The Magical World of STEM with Brian Richards mixes demonstrations, comedy and magic so younger students can help perform experiments and illusions while they learn how science and engineering connect.

Engineering, flight and space

BalloonTalk brings a real hot air balloon to your school. Students learn how a balloon flies and what a pilot has to think about, which makes physics and engineering feel real. It runs rain or shine, and the pilot coordinates any weather adjustments with your school ahead of time.

Draw Artemis! with Emmy Award–winning PBS artist Mark Kistler connects art and space science through NASA's Artemis mission to the Moon. It is a great STEAM pick for K–12 and is available virtually.

Earth science and ecology

Dumpster Doug teaches the 4 R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Read) through comedy and magic for Pre-K–6. It is a natural fit for Earth Day or for supporting your school's green goals.

Technology and music production

Music Technology LIVE! features Brent Daniels, an 11-time Clio Award–winning producer and composer, showing how today's technology shapes sound for film, TV and games. For grades 4–12, his Trailer Music LIVE! workshop goes behind the scenes of movie-trailer music.

Math and geography

Math lovers will enjoy Mathical Mystery Tour and Math & Music Fusion. For a world-geography angle, Tales From A Bicycle Seat follows George Maurer's cycling adventures across several continents.

Ways schools use a science assembly

  • Kick off a science fair or STEM unit with a show that gets students asking questions.
  • Anchor a STEM or STEAM family night so parents see the excitement too.
  • Celebrate Earth Day in April with an ecology-focused program.
  • Reward students after testing with something fun that still keeps learning front and center.
  • Support STEM grant goals with a program built around real science concepts.

Quick grade guide

For Pre-K–2, look at The Magical World of STEM, Dumpster Doug and Supermarket Science. Grades 3–5 get a lot from The Wacky Science Show and BalloonTalk. For middle and high school, Draw Artemis!, BalloonTalk and Brent Daniels' music technology programs hold older students' attention. Tell us your grades and goals, and we will recommend a short list.
