The Magic of Reading with Brian Richards is designed to tickle the imagination, highlight the fun of reading, and encourage children to explore the library. This elementary reading school assembly will inspire your students to open a book and start reading!
Featuring magic, comedy, audience participation, storytelling, and educational fun, The Magic of Reading assembly show is a hit with students, teachers, and staff! Librarians, Teachers, PTA Presidents, Principals, Students, and Parents have and continue to give amazing reviews for this program.
This elementary reading school assembly show promotes reading and the importance of visiting the library, utilizing Magic, Comedy, Storytelling, and Audience participation. The Magic of Reading will touch on reading genres and the types of books found in the library, including Fantasy, Adventure, Mysteries, Science Fiction, Horror, Non-Fiction, and more. The show features the books “The Empty Pot” and “Abiyoyo.”
Children will also learn how Reading is like Exercise for their brains. Following this reading assembly show for elementary schools, students will be motivated to read every night! (Brian will use your teachers’ recommendations for the number of minutes per night).
The Magic of Reading is perfect any time of the year, but it is especially appropriate when tied in with National Library Week (April), Children’s Book Week, Read-Across America (March), Summer Reading Clubs, and more.

Magic of Reading In-Person School Assembly Setup
It is CRITICAL to provide a parking space for loading/unloading and ensure your show begins on time!
Audience: PreK-6 Capacity: 400 in-person or 300 virtual (Zoom preferred)
Prefer split younger/older but not required
Presentation Time: 45 minutes
Set-Up Time: 45 minutes. Please ensure performance space is clear and empty of classes during set-up time.
Take-Down Time: 30 minutes
Presentation Area: Brightly lit performance space; minimum area of 8 ft. x 14 ft. Performance space can be stage or floor-level; floor level is preferred. If performance space is floor level, please seat students on the floor and not in chairs. If the performance area is a stage, please make sure there are stairs for easy volunteer access to the performance area.
Assembly Requirements: Depending on your location, you may be asked to provide a PA system with RCA-jack input.

Magic of Reading Virtual/Online Setup
Audience: PreK-6 Capacity: 300 or more

Platform: Zoom preferred, others available if school sets-up and hosts
Presenter will: set-up and email Zoom link as late as the week prior to your show date. Please anticipate meeting presenter in the Zoom meeting 15-minutes prior to your start time so they may enable you/school representative as a co-host and accommodate any last-minute details/instructions.
