About Us
We take great pride in being a fully woman-owned and predominantly female-operated and managed business enterprise. As a small, family-owned venture, we believe that the success of minority-led, female-led, and veteran-led small businesses not only contributes to the strength of our economy, but also enhances the resilience of our families, strengthens our communities, and ultimately improves the overall quality of life for all individuals.
Academic Entertainment: A Journey of Grit and Passion
In the mid-1990s, Gina Jamison, a single working mom of three school-age girls, founded Academic Entertainment. Armed with just one artist, a phone book directory of California public schools, and a makeshift plywood desk in her bedroom, Gina embarked on a two-week mission to make sales through good old-fashioned cold calling. This was a time when the internet had not yet reached widespread use.
Fast forward to 2020, and the incredible journey of Academic Entertainment continues. Incorporated in 1997, we now proudly represent over 40 educational and motivational school shows, summer camp shows, and arts-in-education programs. Our offerings are available both in-person and online, serving schools across the United States.
Despite our growth, one thing remains constant: Gina, the mastermind behind it all, still plays an active role in the day-to-day operations of our small business. Her dedication and commitment have been instrumental in shaping Academic Entertainment into what it is today.
Academic Entertainment: A True Family Business
At Academic Entertainment, we take pride in being a family business. With Gina, Brad, and Whitney at the helm, our company is driven by the deep bonds of trust and shared values. Gina, the founder, brought her ex-husband, Brad, on board 15 years ago to lead our Sales and Marketing efforts. And now, their daughter, Whitney, has joined us as the newest member and the future of our company. With over five years of experience under her belt, Whitney is a valued asset to our team. Experience the synergy of a true family business with Academic Entertainment.
Dedicated to Supporting Independent Artists
As self-employed entrepreneurs, we take pride in supporting independent artists and K-12 school presenters, always striving to stay ahead of the curve in our industry. With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, we faced the challenge head-on and collaborated with our artists to create virtual assemblies and online workshops that can be tailored to any setting, prioritizing the well-being of all students. Whether your school is transitioning to virtual, in-person, or a combination of both, we have you covered!
